al-Megrahi Lingered, but the Buzzards Won
Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, the only person convicted in the 1988 bombing of an American jetliner over Lockerbie, Scotland, died in Libya, on May 20th nearly three years after Scotland released him on humanitarian grounds. Megrahi was found guilty in 2001 of orchestrating the bombing, which killed 270 people, including 189 Americans. He was sentenced to life in prison, with a 27-year minimum. But after doctors said he was likely to die within three months, he was freed in 2009 under a Scottish law providing for compassionate release of prisoners with terminal illnesses. He lingered for three years before passing at age 60.

Disco Sucks
Further proof that disco was created by satan was discovered recently as another Gibb - the founding brothers of the horrible music - died at a young relatively young age. The vengeful deity that created the universe claimed the life of Robin Gibb who died of cancer at the age of 62. His older brother Barry is the only survivor from the singing family. He'll likely be picked in a few upcoming drafts. And don't be surprised if John Travolta and Deney Terrio aren't far behind!
The 38 points go to Izzy who pads his lead with his second death of the year.

The Day the Music Died
Legendary TV host Dick Clark died Wednesday of a massive heart attack. He was 82 years old. Clark had been a regular pick in the Circling Buzzards since suffering a stroke in 2004. This year it was Greg who picked Clark and he gets the 18 points. It is Greg's second death and puts him in second place with 37 points.

The Picks Have Been Updated
The 2012 Death Pool picks have been entered. As stated in the last post, each member already has one death on their list. Things got started with Gene Bartow (Greg gets 1st death of year sidebet). Etta James and Joe Pa quickly followed. And the recent passing of Hall of Famer Gary Carter puts Izzy in the early lead.
It's either going to be a really fun year for the Buzzards or we're headed for a long slump.
