Apparently those of us involved in the Circling Buzzards missed an important death. Tommy Makem died on August 1 at the age of 74. He was chosen by Izzy and as I recall there were some questions regarding who in the hell Tommy Makem was!!! However, we allowed the pick and now we find out the he has died. Makem was an Irish folk singer who sang with the Clancy Brothers. In 1999 he was listed among the top 100 Irish-Americans of the 20th Century.
Yeah, whatever.
I feel we may be narrowing our criteria in the future.
Still, Tommy Makem died and is worth 26 points to Izzy. He is now on his way to a major victory. Unfortunately, he doesn't even know half the people he has chosen!!!
Really, who in the hell is Gloria Arroyo? Bronson's mom?

During our next draft expect to hear liberal application of the phrase "not famous enough".
perhaps a new rule that says the death must be reported in a MAJOR US paper(USA today, WSJ, Cinti Enquirer)
First, one of the top 100 Irish-Americans of the 20th Century and he is not famous enough? I wouldn't complain if any of you had picked one of the other 99.
Second, oh the pipes, the pipes on the boy - if you ever heard him sing you wouldn't have a question.
Third, I love your sample list of MAJOR US papers, including McNews and one of Gannett's local pablum dispensers.
Finally, Arroyo is the current president of the Philippines. She has been ranked in Forbes' "World's 100 Most Powerful Women" list for three years running. You are welcome to any of the other 99.
The New York Times reported Tommy Makem's death.
